Pellegrini: Best Role Lampard as Substitutes
Manchester – Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini very rarely lowers Frank Lampard as a starter in a game. According to Pellegrini, Lampard is able to be a differentiator when so substitute.
Until the Premier League runs 24 weeks, Lampard has been played 18 times. But from 18 appearances, only three times Lampard derived from the first minute.
However, the lack of time appeared not lessen the impact of a given Lampard for the City. Four of the five goals already this season created just born when he came on as a substitute.
Pellegrini also defended his decision to not often degrade Lampard as a starter. He believes that the former Chelsea midfielder was more dangerous when defenders have started to fatigue.
“When the other team has been playing for 50 or 60 minutes, I think Frank made more of a difference,” Pellegrini said as quoted by ESPN FC.
“The best moments of the season came on as a substitute and he scored. I hope he continues like this,” said the Chilean manager.
“Frank is a very important player for us, either as a starter or substitute, so he will continue to play the way that I think is useful for the team,” said Pellegrini.
